€215m Series B funding round: Haniel extends partnership with 1KOMMA5°

Duisburg, 23 June 2023. Haniel extends its Growth Capital investment in the cleantech start-up 1KOMMA5° as the company's largest external shareholder. The Series B funding round closed at €215 million.

1KOMMA5° was founded just 23 months ago. Since then, the team around CEO & Co-founder Philipp Schröder has built a one-stop shop for decentralized energy systems that is already active in six markets: Germany, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Italy and Australia.

“1KOMMA5° has outperformed on all fronts since the start of our partnership a year ago,” said Philipp Göhre, Partner Growth Capital at Haniel. “We are very happy to be able to double-down on our investment in this exceptional cleantech business model driven by a highly talented team.”

With now 1,300 employees in 60 locations, 1K5° helps private households and SMEs switch to climate-neutral power supply – from solar, electricity storage and heat pumps to charging infrastructure.

The oversubscribed Series B round was led by renowned U.S. technology investor G2 Venture Partners, who is joining the investor consortium as a new shareholder.

1K5° will now invest in a new R&D site & team in Berlin to further advance software capabilities in energy management, virtual power plant and device connection around its IoT energy manager “Heartbeat.” The company also plans new acquisitions in Spain, Italy, Austria and Switzerland by the end of 2023.
