Enkelfähig Campus

The Enkelfähig Campus on Franz-Haniel-Platz is developing into an ecosystem of innovative and diverse companies - including, for example: Haniel, Co-Creation Lab Places Beyond Bytes of University Duisburg-Essen, Coworking-Space Work Inn oder Impact Factory, Germany's leading incubator/accelerator for green & social entrepreneurs. We offer space for exchange, experiments and ideas so that all members of the campus community can benefit from each other and work on a common vision – "enkelfähig" entrepreneurship. Haniel was founded here more than 265 years ago and has been adapting to new conditions ever since. Until today. That is why we have opened our campus to other entrepreneurs. We want to learn from each other and develop together. The campus is located in the heart of Duisburg-Ruhrort, the district that is set to become the world's first environmentally neutral neighborhood through the Urban Zero initiative.

Startup Area

On almost 600 square meters, we offer start-ups the opportunity to rent small office spaces or desks cost-effectively and flexibly and to benefit from the advantages of the Enkelfähig Campus and collaboration with other companies and start-ups. We are switching the entire energy supply on campus to renewable energy. Once the measures have been completed, all buildings on the Enkelfähig Campus will be supplied exclusively with self-produced energy (electricity, heating, cooling). The installed PV systems installed on the flat roofs have a size of over 1,500 m2 and an output of over 320 kWp. With the electricity produced the company operates five large heat pumps. These have an output of almost 1.5 megawatts and cool the campus with 1.3 megawatts in summer. We are thus pioneering sustainable energy supply in Ruhrort.
