Thomas Schmidt is coming from TE Connectivity, where he was President of TE Industrial for six years. Previously, the engineering graduate held various management positions within the General Electric Group.

"His multifaceted experience in various regions of the world and in fields such as digitalisation, innovation and sales will deliver added value for the configuration and management of our portfolio."
Schmidt will strengthen the Management Board for the management of the divisions and the enhancement of the investment portfolio. In this context, he will initially take responsibility for the CWS-boco division and will thus become Chairman of the Shareholder Committee in the joint venture with Rentokil Initial in the future. Haniel signed an agreement with Rentokil Initial to create the joint venture on 15 December 2016. Closing - subject to approval by the antitrust authorities - is expected in mid-2017.
Thomas Schmidt, who was born in 1971, began his career - based on his engineering studies at the University of Würzburg - in 1996 with various positions in the US corporation General Electric (GE) in the Netherlands, Germany and the UK.
After performing management duties as General Manager of Eastern Europe, Germany/Austria/Switzerland and Middle East & Africa for GE Plastics, he joined TE Connectivity Ltd. in mid-2008. From 2008 to 2010, Schmidt was responsible for Communications & Industrial Solution as Vice President EMEA. In July 2010, he became President of TE Industrial and a member of TE Connectivity's executive team.
Thomas Schmidt is married and has a 14-year-old daughter. In his free time, he likes to do sports and read.
