Düsseldorf, 20 July 2012. METRO PROPERTIES has a new Chief Executive Officer: with immediate effect, French-born Jean-Christophe Bretxa (51) will assume responsibility for the international retail property portfolio of METRO GROUP and the roughly 1,700 employees working for the real estate subsidiary. Bretxa joined METRO PROPERTIES as Managing Director Region Western Europe in June 2011. As CEO, he is taking over from Thomas Ziegler who left METRO GROUP effective from 30 June 2012.

As Managing Director Region Western Europe of METRO PROPERTIES, Bretxa had already been in charge of the real estate operations for the countries Belgium, Denmark, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain and Turkey. Before that, Jean-Christophe Bretxa worked for the international retail real estate company Redevco, where he last headed the retail business in France and Switzerland as Managing Director. Until 2006, he worked for Axa Reim where he had been fully responsible for twelve real estate funds. Bretxa started his career in retailing in 1988 as Director Property Services with the French retail company Printemps. After that, he took on positions in the real estate management of the French supermarket chain Continent (Promodes) and the retail group Carrefour.
