Election of the Supervisory Board of Franz Haniel & Cie. GmbH

Three new members for shareholders representatives and employees representatives

Duisburg, 28 April 2018. As scheduled, shareholder representatives of the Supervisory Board of Franz Haniel & Cie. GmbH were elected for a further five year term by the Shareholders' Meeting this Saturday. Alongside Dr Stephan Glander as shareholders' representative, Doreen Nowotne and Patrick Schwarz-Schütte were elected as external members for the representation of shareholders in the committee. On 22 February 2018, employees elected their representatives to the Supervisory Board in direct elections, who also took office at the end of today's Shareholders' Meeting. At the subsequent first constituent meeting of the new Supervisory Board, Franz M. Haniel was confirmed as Chairman again. Both of his deputies Gerd Herzberg and Dr Georg F. Baur were also re-elected.

Dr Stephan Glander will succeed Dr Michael Schädlich as a shareholder representative. Doreen Nowotne and Patrick Schwarz-Schütte are taking over Paul-Bernhard Kallen and Thomas Geitner as external members. The predecessors were not available for another term of office.

Since the middle of 2015, Dr Stephan Glander has been CEO of the speciality chemicals company BYK and member of the ALTANA Executive Management Board in Wesel. Born in 1968, the chemistry graduate previously held various management positions in large companies in the chemical industry, including Bayer AG, Quadrant EPP AG in Switzerland and the Röchling Group.

Since 2015, Doreen Nowotne has been a self-employed business consultant in Hamburg. Born in 1972, the business administration graduate (HTW Dresden) was previously a member of the Board of Management of VAT Vakuumventile AG, Haag, Switzerland and advisor to its shareholders. Between 2002 and 2012, she worked as a partner at BC Partner Beteiligungsberatung GmbH in Hamburg, after working as a senior associate in the German private equity team of UBS Capital and as a senior consultant at the Arthur Andersen auditing firm. Nowotne is a member of the supervisory boards of Lufthansa Technik AG, Jenoptik AG and Brenntag AG.

Patrick Schwarz-Schütte has been the Managing Director of Black Horse Investments GmbH in Düsseldorf since 2007. Born in 1956, the business administration graduate worked as a management consultant at Booz Allen & Hamilton from 1982 to1984 and joined the company SCHWARZ PHARMA GmbH founded by his father in Monheim. He joined the Management Board there in 1988 and became chair in 1992 until the company was sold in 2006. Schwarz-Schütte is a member of the university council at Heinrich Heine University and the German French Chamber of Commerce.

Also elected to the Supervisory Board as employee representatives were Mario Büscher, business administrator of employee pensions, and Dirk Patermann, service consultant, both at CWS-boco Deutschland GmbH in Dreieich and Leipzig/Brehna and as representative of the executive staff Lutz Leischner, mathematics graduate, at CWS-boco Supply Chain Management GmbH in Dreieich.
