Schacht One – An idea takes flight

Our colleagues in Essen have been busy: in May, they organised a Haniel visit to the Online Marketing Rockstars Festival, and generated further impetus with their own “Maschinenhalle” format. Schacht One colleagues also unveiled their latest plans there: the Zollverein Colliery is to become a laboratory for the future for SMEs.

With 50,000 visitors, 400 exhibitors and 300 speakers, the Online Marketing Rockstars Festival is Europe's most important digital conference. For the first time, colleagues from Schacht One arranged for Haniel to attend. Digital experts from all divisions were there, learning about key trends and expanding their network. The exclusive Haniel programme included a guided tour with Alexander Graf, founder and creator of Kassenzone, an information platform on e-commerce.

Maschinenhalle: the place to be

The second meeting place for all Haniel colleagues involved in digital topics was Maschinenhalle on 23 May. Colleagues hosted this event for the third time, attracting several exciting speakers. Among them was Uwe Habicher, Head of Brand Management at Haufe, who reported on the company's transformation – from a provider of loose-leaf publications on employment law to the information platform for employment and careers. Marie-Lene Armingeon explained how a company can unexpectedly come up with a new business sector. She is the co-founder and CEO of Sofaconcerts.org, a platform that brings musicians and music lovers together. Marie-Lene garnered so much attention with a promotional video for her company that she now produces films for other companies too.

Where SMEs go digital

To round off Maschinenhalle, Dirk Müller presented a shared aim of Schacht One, Schmiede Zollverein and the Zollverein Foundation: together, they intend to develop the Zollverein Colliery into THE digital location for SMEs. Further details can be found in the latest enkelfähig magazine, issued at the end of June.
