Scholarship holders' meeting

Scholars Seminar

Widening horizons

The Haniel Foundation invites its scholars to Duisburg once a year. At each meeting, the focus is on a current economic social and political topic with international significance. The programme consists of lectures from experts, panel discussions and workshops. The scholars also gain first hand knowledge of the founding company and trace its history.

Strengthening the network

As well as the exchange of specialist knowledge, the two-day scholarship holders' meeting also allows time for personal discussions. The participants can follow up on existing contacts – and make new ones. This is because the Haniel Foundation accepts around 90 scholars onto its scholarship programme every year. Since 1988, the Haniel Foundation community has thus grown to around 1,200 members. More and more scholars are coming from Asia and Central-Eastern Europe.

In resonance

Limited interference desired

In the auditorium of the Haniel Academy in Duisburg on 24 March 2011 at around 4 pm, five representatives from politics, the armed forces, the press and an NGO discuss governmental responsibility – i.e. political responsibility – using the example of Afghanistan. The panel guests share excellent knowledge of the Islamic Republic from their respective perspectives.
