Haniel Lecture

Lecture

Multifaceted topic

The Haniel Lecture has been held every two years since 1993. At the Haniel Foundation headquarters in Duisburg, around 200 guests from economy, science, politics and society listen to lectures from experts. The speakers comment on one topic from different professional and national perspectives. They then discuss their views with the audience.

No one-stop solution

Live to work or work to live? This was the question addressed by the ninth Haniel Lecture in November 2010. Dr Ronald Heifetz, an internationally renowned leadership expert from the USA, and Friedrich Merz, former member of the German parliament, were unable to offer a universal answer since people’s ideal conception of the work-life balance varies greatly according to their personal circumstances. However, the guest speakers provided a large number of suggestions applicable to everyone for achieving the desired balance.
