Go West – European Master's Degree & Internships

Go West

The Go West - European Master’s Degree & Internships programme will be discontinued from 2012.

In 2012, scholarships will be granted by our cooperation partners the Willy Brandt School of Public Policy in Erfurt, the Honours Master’s Programme East European Studies at LMU Munich, the Biotechnology Center TU Dresden and the University of Cologne CEMS Programme only. If you are interested in studying at one of these partner universities, please apply to them directly.

Stationed in Germany

The Go West scholarship programme is open to young people from Central and Eastern Europe and Russia. Graduates with a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in economics or related subjects are encouraged to apply. The Haniel Foundation offers the opportunity to live, learn and work in Germany, enabling students to undertake a two to four semester postgraduate course and then an internship. They not only deal intensively with the foreign language, culture and economy, but also get to know the people of Germany better. These personal contacts contribute towards increasing mutual understanding.

Dedicated team

The Go West scholarship programme arose from an initiative by the Haniel Foundation and the Klaus Tschira Foundation. They created the programme in 2001. Both foundations jointly finance and operate the programme. They also work with partners. Students who are interested in a Go West scholarship and wish to study at a partner university can apply there directly. Scholarships for all other courses of study are granted by the Haniel Foundation.
