For Haniel, diversity is a success factor – this is the case for the portfolio just as much as for employees. People from different nationalities, religions or ethnic backgrounds enrich the company. Everyone has the same opportunities to contribute their individual strengths and build on their potential. Gender makes no difference; around 60 per cent of the Group’s employees are female. The job and career prospects depend on qualifications alone – for people with disabilities and everyone else.
Working abroad
As a multinational trading and services Group we are where our customers are – and that means more than 30 countries. Eight in every ten employees work outside Germany. Depending on the business and operation area, you often work in international teams at Haniel with direct contact to foreign companies or in projects abroad. Therefore we foster intercultural competency within our company. Even the trainee programme offers an assignment abroad lasting four to six months as a key feature. You can discover the concrete perspectives that Haniel offers you worldwide on the job pages of the subsidiaries.
Compensation and benefits
At Haniel, you are paid in line with the market and depending on performance. Modern pay models and benefit systems ensure that the respective local conditions at our international sites are aligned. Those who bear a lot of responsibility and fulfil high expectations are paid more than average. And employees who think in the long-term and act entrepreneurially in terms of the Group participate in the success of Haniel.
All employees play an important role in the future of the Group. Haniel would also like to do this the other way around. Therefore, the Group supports, for example, employees in Germany with a programme of individual arrangements. It offers them the opportunity to convert part of the income into a pension and funds this with a contribution. In this way, over 8,000 people can support themselves and their families financially in the long-term.
Working and living
To bring together the working day and private life, the Group enables its employees to organise their hours flexibly. The solutions are different for every personal and company situation. Some employees work flexi-time or part-time, other work from home. For example, those who study alongside their job can align their hours to their study timetable and they receive special leave.
Haniel supports parents in finding the right childminders or child care facilities for their children. At some locations, there are company nurseries. Additionally, in Germany the Group works with pme Familienservice. The agency also helps when relatives become ill or need care and offers coaching in many difficult circumstances. The Group has aid funds on hand to offer financial support to employees who have fallen into hardship through no fault of their own.
The health of the employees is of great significance for Haniel. Therefore, the Group regularly invites them to receive free medical check-ups and vaccinations. In addition, Haniel helps its employees to achieve a good work-life balance by way of fitness activities and sports clubs.
