Creative teamwork
With 35,000 members at 1,400 universities in 41 countries, SIFE – Students in Free Enterprise – is the largest international student organisation. Participating students form teams on their university campuses and develop projects in which they advocate responsible behaviour from both a business and an ethical perspective. The projects are conducted autonomously by the students with the support of companies – including Haniel. The Group maintains close contacts with the local SIFE team in Münster. As a member of the Business Advisory Board, we help the students to formulate new project ideas and offer them professional and technical advice at the implementation stage.
Up close and personal
The SIFE National Cup is an annual event at which all the teams in a country present their projects to a jury of company representatives. In advance of the competition, the team in Münster has the opportunity to rehearse its presentation in front of a Haniel audience. The winner of the national competition goes forward to represent the country at the SIFE World Cup. Since 2009, senior managers from the Haniel Group have been among those judging the students' commitment. The jurors get to know highly motivated emerging executives with a strong sense of responsibility – the kind of young talent that fits our profile exactly. The sustainability reflected in the students' work is typical of the approach that Haniel has always pursued. Each year, in addition, we meet SIFE students from the whole of Germany at the "Students meet Enterprise" careers fair, where we outline the future prospects offered by Haniel.
